Blogging Tools

There are many tools out there which can help with blogging, from giving inspiration through to aiding in the management of multiple blogs. We are continually finding new and improved methods and tools for this task, and will be updating this page regularly with our best picks!

Inspiration -

Choosing a tool for inspiration can depend entirely on the reason for your blogging. Many people will often blog as a method of venting their thoughts, emotions or general activity, others use it as a way to attract visitors to their website.

Twitter Trends
Twitter is a very immediate source of news and is often used to find the popular news topics or shared content. Using What The Trend, many people are basing their next blog posts or articles on hot topics. This means that with the right work you will be tapping into a healthy stream of visitors to your post/website.

Evernote
Not normally thought of as a blogging tool, Evernote can be utilised as a great way for inspiring blog posts. In its simplest terms Evernote is a note taking tool that can be used on your phone/tablet/computer and stays in sync across all devices. This means that when you are out and about you can not only take notes during your day, but also allows you to save webpages and even camera images. With Evernote you will always be on the search for inspiration.

Other Blogs
Now I am not suggesting stealing ideas from other people, but looking at blogs in your area will give you an idea of what the buzz is within the community. Utilising this you can see what hot topics are around the subject, and also gives you a good audience to market to. Once you have written an entry you can then backtrack to the other blogs with similar articles, and start a cross-conversation between the articles. This not only attracts visitors to your blog but also helps with adding quality content to your entry.

Publishing -

Nowadays it is not uncommon for people to manage multiple blogs. It may be one for your hobby, one for your work and one for family. Depending on how many you will be managing, it can become a stressful task, and can even put you off writing altogether.
We have compiled some of the tools which we have come across to simplify the task of publishing your written word.

Tumblr
Okay this isn’t exactly a tool in itself, it is a blogging platform. However what Tumblr have done to their publishing area is very unique and worth a mention. With Tumblr you are able to sign up for multiple blogs, but manage and publish to them from the same control panel. This means that you only have one area you need to log in to before you can edit your blog, upload images, add posts etc.

OnlyWire
This tool seems to get marketed at social media experts, but it really can be a great tool for normal bloggers too. The tool allows you to essentially auto-submit your content to the top social media websites and blogging platforms. For example you may have a LiveJournal and a Typepad blog, along with social bookmark accounts for Del.ici.ous and Digg. Instead of publishing your article to each blog, then navigating to your social bookmarking sites and adding the entry there too, you can do it all through the one OnlyWire dashboard. Only downside is that you have to pay for membership, so definitely a benefit for those professional socialites!
